Introducing the Fortville Optimist Club!

Serving the Youth and Our Community Since 1968

The Fortville Optimist Club is affiliated with Optimist International and is a voluntary organization of civic-minded men and women banded together for service to youth and the community. Membership is composed of individuals over the age of eighteen from various occupational areas and professions. Membership provides the opportunity for both personal development and participation in community service.

Meetings are held at 7:30 AM on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month, at the Senior Citizens Center in downtown Fortville. An all you can eat breakfast is provided for a nominal cost.

Community Service and Youth Projects are designed to:

  1. Fulfill a definite need and make the community a better place in which to live.
  2. Provide a sense of gratification to those who participate, knowing their effort will benefit others.
  3. Promote fellowship and a closer acquaintance among members through cooperation.
  4. Reaffirm the members’ and citizens’ pride in themselves and their community.

The Fortville Optimist Club operates under a board of twelve members, which is subordinate to the general membership. The structure of the board includes the president, immediate past president, two vice-presidents, secretary, treasurer, and six other elected board members.

Cost of Membership:

There is a small fee for a new member’s application to be processed through the club and Optimist International. Membership in the Fortville Optimist Club is $5 per month and collected as part of annual dues.

The Optimist Creed

Promise Yourself-

·         To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.

·         To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.

·         To make all your friends feel that there is something in them

·         To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.

·         To think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.

·         To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own

·         To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.

·         To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.

·         To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.

·         To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
